UNCONVINCING
My collage embodies certain notions and beliefs in order to develop a definite form, a kind of narration is taking into shape, exactly at the point where shooting a single frame wouldn't be enough. I construct a mutual relevance between all norms of acceptability, photographically and socially. There is a motion between grotesque and aesthetics. The individuals inhabiting my collage along with the landscapes in the background, occasionally are either of my own shootings or elements taken from the web. All these hybrids are both freakish and elegant which are being detached and absurdly placed into certaintly ornamental ambience (e.g. Forever Whatever from "Politics", I am not Alice from "Woman", Sweet resort from "Implausibles", It is a matter of perspective from "Environment", Summer smell from "Implausibles" etc.) Covid-19 makes the scene a macabre life modulator to conventions already worldwide initiated. Racism, urban areas, ancient heritage, environmental shift, woman's role today, war and politics compose the surreal protagonists.
This project resists fear, opposes constant precaution as well as antisepsis that can navigate us to isolation. An isolation the way I exhibit it, fragmented and detached as it appears or perhaps things aren't always what they seem…
UNCONVINCING
Τα κολάζ μου αποτελούνται από μια συρραφή
εντυπώσεων και εμπειριών και δίνουν μορφή εκεί ακριβώς, στο όριο όπου η λήψη
ενός και μόνου καρέ δε θα ήταν ικανή να αφηγηθεί. Κατασκευάζω μια αμοιβαία
σχέση ανάμεσα στο αποδεκτό και το μη αποδεκτό, στο γκροτέσκο και την
καλαισθησία. Τα πρόσωπα και τα τοπία που κατοικούν τα κολάζ μου κάποτε είναι
λήψεις δικές μου και κάποιες φορές στοιχεία παρμένα από το διαδίκτυο. Όλα πάντως
είναι υβρίδια συγχρόνως τερατώδη και κομψά αποκομμένα και παράλογα τοποθετημένα
μέσα σε ένα διακοσμητικό περιβάλλον από ξένα στοιχεία συχνά βίαια αποκομμένα
και παράλογα τοποθετημένα πάνω σε διακοσμημένα περιβάλλοντα (Forever Whatever από την
ενότητα "Politics", I am not Alice από την ενότητα "Woman", Sweet resort από
την "Implausibles", It is a matter of perspective από την "Environment", Summer
smell from "Implausibles" κ.α.)
Τα κολάζ μου αντιστέκονται στο φόβο, αντιδρούν στη διαρκή προφύλαξη και αντισηψία που οδηγεί στην απομόνωση. Μια απομόνωση όπως την παρουσιάζω, φαινομενικά κομματιασμένη και αποσπασματική. Όμως είναι τελικά;
